Part biology crash-course, part cultural commentary, ‘Read Your Body’ encourages women to inform themselves about their bodies, relate to their menstrual cycle in a more positive way and make fully informed contraceptive choices. It provides explanations and tools to do so, affirming the fertility awareness method and being brutally honest about the - little acknowledged - side-effects of hormonal contraception.
The Body Literacy Collective needed illustrations that bring a bit of humour and lightness to the text of the book. Sango was directly involved in developing the various drawings to make sure they make the concepts clearer and more relatable. Illustrations were also developed for two videos explaining the notion of body literacy.
